Mike and Jeanne M.: Wounded Pilgrims Recovered

Just had to respond to your website on the Geftakys ministry and the sadness so many people are feeling still. We are Mike & Jeanne Maisenbach. We were there along with you in the very beginning-- House of Christian Love, then the meetings at Hillcrest Park--in the early 1970's. We were married by George in 1972 and were blessed with twin daughters, Faith and Charity, and eighteen months later :) , a son, Nathan. We remember the struggle to do it all, all the time--trying to raise a family, and make ends meets financially, while housing "guests" that were assigned to us. Basically we got discouraged, exhausted and depressed.

It took us ten years of wandering, healing, grieving for our dear friends whom we could not even speak to any more, and a general loss of faith. The Assembly was all we knew. We could never measure up--do it all and be joyful.

BUT God is faithful! He took us from this depth of faithlessness and brought us to Eastside Christian Church, where we are currently fellowshipping and enjoying God's abundant love. Mike plays in the church band for the Saturday and Sunday services. We have a small bible study in our home and are enjoying the blessings of God as we continue in the faith. We have three grandchildren, too! Mike owns his own finish carpentry business in Fullerton. We'll be coming up on our 35th anniversary in 2007!

We often think of the friends we met during the early years of the Assembly and wonder what has happened to them. When Mike Abt passed away, we realized that there was no regard for those who "left", and the friendships God had allowed us to have would never be again. God is indeed faithful and good. So thank you for the website. Hope you remember us. Our life verse is Phil 3:13-14, "Brethren, ... this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before ..." I know you know the rest :)
